''This investigation resulted in the seizure of approximately 16 kgs of methamphetamine that police allege was produced at (the) property,'' said Sgt. Sean Neary of RCMP
North District Drug Section. ''The ''E'' Division Clandestine Laboratory Team located and subsequently dismantled a sophisticated, commercial size laboratory capable of producing large quantities of methamphetamine. A vehicle and several firearms were also seized by police during the investigation.''
The drugs were transported to the Lower Mainland area of B.C. for distribution.
The investigation is still ongoing at this time.
Firefighters from Forest Grove, 100 Mile and B.C. Ambulance were on the scene both Saturday and Sunday, suited up in protective gear to dismantle the extensive operation. Const. Rob Christenson explained that fire and ambulance crews are required on scene because of potentially dangerous chemicals that are used to produce methamphetamine.
''It is an unstable environment and that is why we have emergency services here,'' he said.''You never know what is going to happen. There are so many different kinds of tools and heaters used in an operation like this.''
